“I knew that Chuck Lorre really wanted me to play Katie and I was very upset when I didn’t get the role, but I’m the type who moves on because that’s what you have to do,” said Kaley Cuoco.
“She is so sunny and radiant, and they loved her, but she just didn’t bring the dark qualities we wanted. She didn’t have the essence of Penny in that first version,” said casting director Ken Miller.
